Still waiting...

It's hard to plan when you don't know what you're planning for!  I want to clean out my closet, don't know whether to get rid of the warm weather clothes or the cool weather ones.  Will we be in a city where we can buy supplies as we need them, or more remote so we take everything we're going to need.  Arrrgg

Another phone call...

😳 Now the Mission Department wants to know if I am willing to be a Mission Nurse.  Ron predicted that this would happen!  We hadn't put that down as a preference, but they noticed I was a nurse from the background information.  The man said it could be anywhere in the world, and that it is an advisory role, I wouldn't really be doing any real nursing.  (I actually rather do "real" nursing than "advise.")  He said I would work closely with the mission president and his wife in consulting about individual missionary's health and making recommendations about possible treatment.

If I were to be called as a Nurse Specialist, we would go to the MTC for the standard week to learn about Preach My Gospel, then I would go to Salt Lake for 2 more days of training and Ron would do 2 additional days at the MTC learning about office procedures, etc.  Ron would pretty much be doing whatever the Mission President needs, including office work, and helping me.

We looked to see if there are any "critical needs" for Mission Nurse Specialists -- yeah, there are 6 with 12 more "low" priority needs listed.  The critical ones are all where we had looked at anyway, with the exception of 3 in the Philippines.

He said the process now is that he will make a recommendation based on our phone call, that will go to some Elder Clayton in the Seventy who will also make a recommendation that will go to the Apostle who will be issuing the call.  Sounds like we have a few more weeks to wait!

So Proud!

Sunday, August 11, 2019

Ammon was ordained to the Melchizedek Priesthood by his father.  Sean and Bill were able to be in the circle.  Pres. Matt Montague (1st Counselor in our Stake Presidency) presided.  We wish all of you could have been there!  It was a touching spiritual experience and one that I will treasure.

Ammon made a comment that really stuck with me.  He exclaimed, "I'm the 5th "Elder Nerdin."  I asked Ron about it later.  Yes, Ron was the first missionary in his Nerdin line, making Ammon the 5th.   Of course I hastened to point out that there have been 2 "Sister Nerdins" that should be recognized in that line up:P  How cool is that?!

I'm so proud of each of my kids!  And this is one more Marvelous Moment among many.

The wait begins...

So Ammon, Ron and I met with our Stake President and our mission papers are in to Salt Lake!  He said it usually takes 5-6 weeks for Senior Couples and less for single Elders.  He offered to wait for a week to push Ammon's button.

Now the wait begins.  I told Brittany that it's like the last month of pregnancy...you're excited and apprehensive and a little scared, but mostly just can't wait for the event.  You know it's coming, but not exactly when...  We're finding it hard to plan for the next few months, there's just so much unknown right now.

At least we know Salt Lake has received our information.  They called Thursday to ask some follow up questions to Ron.  Afterward, the very kind lady said, "You guys are really healthy, you're going to be called to Timbuktu!  I'm not kidding, they'll send you some place where there aren't any doctors."  We're not sure what to think about that.

Anyways, we've got out map out with everyone's predictions.  If you haven't contributed, let us know where you think Ammon will go, and Ron and I.  I'll write it on the map -- winner gets EXTRA prayers;)

On a related note:  our house is a disaster due to some unforseen circumstances; Aubry and Sean and Naomi all moved in with us this last week.  It is quite something to meld 3 households while trying to clear out our own junk.  If any of you know of a good apartment for Aubry, please let us know!
